My apologies for the long delay since the last update. I’ve been working on getting all the systems in place so that the game works completely as intended when it’s released. This includes a fully working world map where you select levels and unlock new paths, a slick level clear screen instead of the rubbish one before, secret exits and subsequently warp space levels working as intended, saving the players progress and stats, updated sprites for some objects and a whole host of fixes and tweaks.

You can Double JUMP – Boots of Justice
Golden Feet
The Boots of Justice are the real heroes of You can Double JUMP because without them, the game would have to be called “You can Single JUMP” and that’s a ridiculous title for a game to be honest. You might’ve already guessed that these ancient, mysterious yet comfortable footwear grant our protagonist Beanie, the ability to jump a second time from seemingly thin air! The boots actually work by charming the air molecules around them until they are hard enough to jump from! Proper clever eh!

You can Double JUMP – Map Screen update
Hello everyone, I’m still alive! Also I have become a father to the most lovely black hole of time imaginable. You can Double JUMP has also had a child if you can count a child as being a map screen that is. The shot above shows the map of the first world named Grassy Hills, it’s currently a little bare on the details (trees, rocks etc) but the keenest among you will notice exactly what is in store for you for You can Double JUMP’s features (for you).

Update #02 – Map screen changes and music
Hello again, I’ve been thinking hard about what to do for the map screen (or level select screen) because it’s current design doesn’t quite feel right. Continue reading
Update #01 – New camera system, map screen and more! [ WARNING – 9MB gif file ]
Hello, it’s been a short while so I have a few new updates to show. They’re mostly features and were a bit overdue but finally, bar a few tweaks, they are done.
Also, I’m going to start adding a different screenshot from You can Double JUMP at the top each post related to the game. It’ll make the posts a bit nicer than the wall of text I normally do, plus it’ll force me to show something new each time 🙂

Dev Log #3 – Full circle
Orientation
It’s been quite the few months recently and apart from the well known stress associated with organising a wedding, it really all began about 2 years ago when SuperCube was barely a prototype.
I’ve mentioned before that SuperCube was originally going to be an endless, free running platformer but I toyed with the idea of changing the gravity direction and liked it. There’s probably loads of games with a similar gravity mechanic but I was drawn to it anyway because way back when I use to create levels for Portal, I really wanted to have a gravity changing mechanic in one of my maps. Just Double JUMP v0.7.5 – Power Ups
So now that I’m a married man and Just Double JUMP is gaining a few fans it’s more than about time to write up a post on the blog and what better time than when Just Double JUMP receives a nice big update with two major features added to the game and further level tightening 😀
It’s been a while but finally the latest update (v0.7.5) is ready! Just Double JUMP now has a power up system, a Bomb Launcher and a new look!
Dev Log #2 – Delays and stuff
Just a quick post to explain what happened last week in regards to information on my new game called Just Double JUMP.
I think I hinted in a previous post that I’m getting married soon (on 20th April) and while that has been taking up my time lately it’s not the main reason why Just Double JUMP has been delayed. My plans to give information and upload it to gamejolt.com last weekend were thwarted by the stag do. It was spontaneously organised within a few hours a week ago today in Sheffield and I really must say hat’s off to my best man as it was a great night out and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
