You can Double JUMP – Screenshots

My apologies for the long delay since the last update.  I’ve been working on getting all the systems in place so that the game works completely as intended when it’s released.  This includes a fully working world map where you select levels and unlock new paths, a slick level clear screen instead of the rubbish one before, secret exits and subsequently warp space levels working as intended, saving the players progress and stats, updated sprites for some objects and a whole host of fixes and tweaks.

You can Double JUMP – Boots of Justice

The Boots of Justice are the real heroes of You can Double JUMP because without them, the game would have to be called “You can Single JUMP” and that’s a ridiculous title for a game to be honest.  You might’ve already guessed that these ancient, mysterious yet comfortable footwear grant our protagonist Beanie, the ability to jump a second time from seemingly thin air!  The boots actually work by charming the air molecules around them until they are hard enough to jump from!  Proper clever eh!

You can Double JUMP – Map Screen update

MapScreenHello everyone, I’m still alive! Also I have become a father to the most lovely black hole of time imaginable. You can Double JUMP has also had a child if you can count a child as being a map screen that is. The shot above shows the map of the first world named Grassy Hills, it’s currently a little bare on the details (trees, rocks etc) but the keenest among you will notice exactly what is in store for you for You can Double JUMP’s features (for you).

The unorthodox shmup, Heterodoxxed is OUT NOW!

Heterodoxxed is a simple shoot-em-up where half-truths, slander and bad words must be destroyed before you’re crushed by the outlandish lies.  There are only three rules to follow in Heterodoxxed.  Shoot, dodge and collect.

The last rule refers to every letter you destroy leaving behind Truth bits.  Once you have collected enough bits, you are granted with a bomb, increased weapon power and more space to again, shoot, dodge and collect.

You can Double JUMP (v0.3.6) – Gameplay teaser trailer

So, roughly 6 months after I first proposed making one of these, I finally produced a new gameplay video!  I kept it short and sweet so it’s a bit more action packed and I should point out that nothing shown in the video is in it’s final state.  Actually, two of the levels shown are so bombastically hard that they may not even make it into the final game. See if you can guess which two.

The background music was created by Tim N (timnaudio.com) and is used within the game as the overworld track for world 2.  I hope you enjoy the gameplay teaser trailer and I would love to hear what you think!

Just Double JUMP v0.7.5 – Power Ups

So now that I’m a married man and Just Double JUMP is gaining a few fans it’s more than about time to write up a post on the blog and what better time than when Just Double JUMP receives a nice big update with two major features added to the game and further level tightening 😀

Double Jump gets an early first impressions!

The guys over at the YouTube channel AffectiveGamers have put together a first impressions of the Double Jump demo and I just wanted to give them a big thank you for the video. Big thank you guys, it was great to watch!



The build shown is a fairly recent one so be sure to check it out to see the new exit and checkpoint system, which is shown on level 4. On a side note, the size of most levels in the finished game will be closer to level 4 than the others in the demo. Final world level concepts but sorry no video yet

Lord Leo’s Lair (The Core)

Just a quick post showing two concepts for the look and style of the final world levels. The final world will take place in the incredibly imaginative setting of Lord Leo’s Lair and will be a…. wait for it…. LAVA WORLD!!!! Honestly, how do I come up with this stuff! Joking aside I thought it would be sacrilege to platforming games if the final world was anything but a lava based one. Also the colour palette and preconceived dangers of lava cement the theme of “oh snap this is hard yo!”.
